Tasks and Responsibilities of TYCA-NE State Representatives
Reps will need to keep in contact with the Rec Board and report important happenings in their states that impact two-year institutions.
Attend our regional conference at least every other year as well as the corresponding post-conference meeting at the conclusion of the conference (usually the Saturday afternoon time slot).
Maintain regular communication with the TYCA-NE Vice-Chair.
Share the CFP and conference information with their home state community colleges.
Act as a liaison between REC and Two Year College community to seek candidates for the DIANA HACKER and Teaching at the Two-Year College Best Article awards.
Assist REC in locating future sites for conference.
Market the fall regional conference in their states.
Compile/maintain a list of two-year colleges and Department Chairs in their states.
Use social media to post information about what’s happening in their states
Being a State Representative is not a time-consuming role, but it is vital for TYCA-NE to thrive. State Reps are our eyes and ears in the communities we serve.
In addition, serving as a State Rep for TYCA-NE provides an excellent opportunity for professional development and promotion.
Please contact Jacqueline Scott (jscott@ccbcmd.edu) if you are interested in becoming a representative.
